The Secret to Progress is Purposeful Practice

The key to shooting with a high level of success is committing to meaningful, consistent practice. When I first started shooting, I was living in military dorms where owning or storing a firearm wasn’t an option. But passion finds a way.
I rented a 5' x 5' storage unit about 30 minutes off base and drove there four days a week. Inside that unit—no heat, no air, just a headlamp for light—I spent an hour at a time dry-firing. I used whatever I had: stickers, tape, even bugs on the wall as targets. Every session was dedicated to building the fundamentals.
After two years of this, I entered my first competition. It was a humbling experience. USPSA exposed my weaknesses and gave me perspective on where I truly stood. But I didn’t stop. Fast forward three more years and over 60 matches later—including outlaw indoor matches, sanctioned USPSA events, and Level 2 and 3 matches across state lines—I had grown immensely.
In 2022, I became the first active-duty Space Force member in history selected for the Department of the Air Force Action Pistol Team—an honor I’ll always be grateful for. I served on the team until February 2025.
I founded Greytshot to give back to the shooting community. My goal is to offer what I wish I had when I started: affordable, advanced shooting instruction grounded in modern techniques, taught by someone who actively competes and can demonstrate those techniques on demand. I could’ve saved a lot of time—and sore hands—if something like this had existed when I began.
